Coupon Lingo

Learning how to coupon also requires learning a lot of the lingo and abbreviations used.  Here are some of the most common coupon terms and abbreviations.

Drugstore Abbreviations
ECB = Extra Care Bucks (CVS)
RR = Register Rewards (Walgreens)
IVC = Instant Value Coupon (Walgreens)
SCR = Single Check Rebate (Rite Aid)
VV = Video Values (Rite Aid)


Other Abbreviations
B1G1 or BOGO = Buy One, Get One Free
B2GI = Buy Two, Get One Free
DND = Do Not Double
EX or X = Expires On
FAR = Free After Rebate
GC = Gift Card
IP = Internet Printable
MC or MQ = Manufacturer’s coupon
MIR = Mail In Rebate
NED = No Expiration Date
OOP = Out of Pocket
WYB = When You Buy

Coupon Definitions
+UP
 = Rite Aid coupons for a certain amount off your next purchase that prints at the bottom of your receipt after making a participating purchase.
Blinkies - Coupons found near products in the machines with blinking lights.

Catalinas = Coupons that print on the machine next to the receipt.
Extra Care Bucks (ECB) = CVS coupons for a certain amount off your next purchase that prints at the bottom of your receipt after making a participating purchase.
Extra Care Card = CVS Store Loyalty Card
Filler = An extra item purchased to reach a minimum # of items needed in order to get a deal
In-ad Coupon = A type of store coupon that is found in the weekly printed ad
Instant Value Coupons (IVC)= Walgreens Store Coupons from a monthly booklet located in the store near the weekly ad.
Kroger Plus Card = Kroger Store Loyalty Card
Manufacturer Coupon

 = Coupon from the maker of a product giving a discount on an item. They reimburse the store for the value of the coupon + a handling fee.
Peelies - Coupons located on products that you peel off.

Register Rewards (RR) = Walgreens coupons that print like Catalinas for a certain amount off your next purchase. These print after making a participating purchase.
Shop Your Way Reward Card = Kmart Store Loyalty Card
Single Check Rebate (SCR) = Rebates for Rite Aid purchases where you enter the information on their website and at the end of the rebate program period (usually the end of the month), they send you one check for all your rebates.
Stacking = Using Both a Store Coupon and a Manufacturer’s Coupon on One Item
Store Coupon = Coupon from the store giving a discount on an item
Video Value (VV) = Coupons you can print from Rite Aid's website after watching promotional videos
Wellness+ Card = Rite Aid Store Loyalty Card
